What the Innosweet® metabolic study found
This peer-reviewed study, published in Pharmaceutics, evaluated the endocrine and metabolic effects of Innosweet® — a chromatographically refined, composition-controlled matrix of balanced sugars and approximately 3% D-Pinitol, derived from carob but engineered into a defined composition rather than a crude extract. The study positions Innosweet® as a novel functional sweetener.
In healthy human volunteers, Innosweet® produced shorter and less persistent glucose excursions compared with glucose, alongside a lower insulin response, while maintaining a comparable glycemic index. Innosweet® also increased the glucagon/insulin ratio, consistent with a more insulin-efficient metabolic response rather than excessive insulin secretion — in other words, supporting healthy glucose and insulin balance.
Preclinical studies were consistent with these observations, reporting improved glucose handling after repeated intake, favorable effects on hepatic lipid metabolism, enhanced fatty acid oxidation, and a good tolerability profile. At the molecular level, Innosweet® was shown to modulate insulin signaling pathways.
Overall, this study indicates that Innosweet® preserves sweetness and caloric value while supporting healthy metabolic balance. Unlike crude carob syrups, Innosweet® combines a controlled sugar–D-Pinitol composition with clinical characterization, positioning it as a differentiated, science-backed alternative to conventional sugars and to commodity extracts.
Human data in this study relate to glycemic and endocrine responses in healthy volunteers; additional findings were obtained in preclinical (animal) models and are intended for scientific and product-development audiences.
