Insulin resistance and associated metabolic dysfunctions, including liver steatosis, are a major cause of health complications along aging. These metabolic alterations also contribute to accelerated brain aging, resulting in cognitive impairment and dementia. Agelity can contribute to a healthy lifestyle through its ability to reduce plasma insulin (Figure A, Navarro J.A. et al., Nutrients. 2020 Jul 8;12(7):2030), contributing to the prevention of the unwanted consequences of insulin resistance such as diabetes type 2, liver steatosis, dyslipemia etc… In addition, Agelity can reduce the phosphorylation of Tau protein, a relevant step towards neurodegeneration and dementia, through a novel mechanism that involves the brain CDK5 protein, as can be seen in Figure B (Medina-Vera et al. Br J Pharmacol. 2022 Oct;179(19):4655–4672). These experiments were performed in a humanized mouse model of Alzheimer’s Disease. In summary, Agelity offers a unique profile that indeed contributes to achieve a healthy aging, with the added value of its natural origin, safe profile and simple use.
