What the Gyneos® cognitive aging study found

This peer-reviewed study, published in Nutrients, investigated the effects of early oral administration of Gyneos®, Advenion Nutrition’s standardized D-chiro-inositol ingredient, in a preclinical model relevant to cognitive aging, with a focus on brain insulin signaling and synaptic function. Using an advanced multi-omics approach (proteomics, phosphoproteomics, gene expression, and protein analysis), the study reported that Gyneos® was associated with favorable changes in hippocampal markers linked to brain insulin signaling during aging.

Gyneos® supported the canonical insulin signaling pathway (IRS-1/PI3K/AKT), helped maintain healthy GSK-3β regulation, and supported balance in glutamatergic receptor signaling. In parallel, Gyneos® supported endocannabinoid signaling involved in presynaptic control of glutamate release, consistent with synaptic stability. Notably, several effects were more pronounced in female animals, reinforcing the relevance of sex-specific metabolic approaches.

This publication positions Gyneos® — a standardized, traceable source of D-chiro-inositol — as a nutrient-based approach to support brain insulin signaling and cognitive function during aging, with particular relevance for women-focused cognitive aging and longevity applications. By evaluating the specific Gyneos® ingredient rather than generic D-chiro-inositol, the study reinforces the value of standardization and analytical control.
